Measuring and determining devices for diving have experienced the greatest revolution with the advent of electronic devices. Electronics gradually affected all important equipment for divers, from depth gauges and pressure gauges to compasses, breathing mixture meters and diving breathing apparatus itself. The electronics in the measuring instruments brought divers not only greater quality, but mainly measurement accuracy. Earlier devices worked with deviations and measurements, which from today's point of view is completely incomprehensible and would not meet the requirements of their users or certification for possible sales. Mechanical measuring instruments are still sold today and we usually recommend them only as backup devices for electronic equipment. Exceptions are, for example, compasses.
