Relax under water or how to start freediving?

Being free in life is in, so why not try it not only on land, but also in water, underwater. And how to do that? A simple question, a simple answer - freediving, frikko, free-diving, apnea diving, inhalation diving, inhalation diving, swimming with fins on an inhalation, free diving, these are all the names of a sport that leads us to feel like a fish in water.
Breathe in, hold your breath, dive in and enjoy the underwater beauty. And when, in addition, we don't have to surface every few seconds, but can hold out for tens of seconds, a minute and gradually extend our stay under the surface, the experience is even more intense. In order to enjoy precious seconds or minutes underwater in peace and safety, this skill needs to be trained and deepened. For this, it is ideal to start with organized inhalation swimming/diving in the pool. Look for the nearest freediving pool training with a qualified instructor and go for it.
Suitable pool equipment for beginners:
- A good quality freediving mask or at least swimming goggles and a nose clip
- Fins that may not be intended for freediving right away, i.e. long. For proper kick training, which you will certainly benefit from at sea in the depths, it is enough to have fins of medium length. Over time, as you increase the length and time spent under the surface, you may begin to consider purchasing freediving fins.
- Clothing to maintain thermal comfort – neoprene, neoprene T-shirt, neoprene pants, shorts
- Weight collar
- Frontal snorkel
By training in the pool, we increase the time we spend under the surface, the length we are able to swim, and we also get to know our body and its reactions to stress. And one more important warning at the end - remember your safety and never do freediving exercises alone, but always under supervision!
